Welcome to all returning St. Gregory families as well as new students to the 2017-2018 academic year.

St. Gregory School is an ELKP (Jr. & Sr. Kindergarten) to Grade 8 community school with approximately 150 students. We are located in Powassan, a small rural community. St. Joseph Church is the local parish.

St. Gregory Catholic School has a demonstrated culture of caring and respect for all students. Our gospel teachings and virtues have provided students direction as we journey in our faith together. The staff at St. Gregory strive toward the creation of learning opportunities that meet the various needs of all children.  Student achievement is measured at St. Gregory Catholic School through a shared common vision and goals that we have developed in our literacy, numeracy, and Catholic graduate formation initiatives.

Our school currently has six regular classrooms. Our team of approximately 15 professionals offer a variety of teaching strategies linked to the Ontario curriculum. Our dedicated staff engages in professional development and initiatives linked to our School Improvement Plan and Ministry of Education initiatives.  We are focused upon delivering the Ontario curriculum through high-yield instructional strategies and assessment practices. We engage students in a variety of ways including the use of effective technological strategies.

Parents and guardians are invited and encouraged to become involved in the school community.  Your support, both in respect to your child’s education as well as in the growth and development of the community at large only forges and deepens the strength of our community.

I look forward to working with your child and invite you to actively participate in our school community.  Should you have any questions, concerns or comments please do not hesitate to contact me either by e-mail at or at the school (705-724-3482).

Together in Learning,

Shelly Warren

Support Catholic Education(Posted:10/30/2017)

DID YOU KNOW?  Your school support defaults to English Public each time you move residences. You must re-declare yourself as English Separate.

By ensuring that you are accurately recorded as a Separate School Supporter, you will be able to cast a vote for Catholic trustees in the October 22, 2018 Municipal Election and you are helping to deliver a powerful message to the Ontario government about the level of support for publicly funded Catholic education in our province.
